Make life easier with a code keypad for your home alarm

Home alarm systems are proving popular these days – not least because they can act as a deterrent against unwanted guests, so you and your family can rest easy.

Modern smart home alarms are useful on a number of levels. They can be programmed to activate automatically at set times, and deactivate again when someone comes home, or you can use a neat little remote control to switch the alarm on or off as you wish.

Introducing the new code keypad for Somfy Protect

Somfy Protect is a subscription-free home alarm that was launched on the UK market back in 2017. This popular alarm system comes in a range of different versions to suit homes of all sizes, from detached buildings to semi-detached or terraced houses and even flats.

And now there’s a new standalone, battery-powered code keypad available too. The Somfy Protect Indoor Keypad is exactly what its name suggests: a code keypad for controlling your home alarm. Thanks to its award-winning design, this keypad blends in seamlessly in any home environment. The round shape and clearly displayed numbers and symbols make it intuitive for all members of the household to use.

Just choose a four-to-six-digit code that’s easy to remember, then you’ll be able to activate or deactivate your alarm quickly and easily.

Easy to instal and control

There are various ways to instal the keypad. You can fix it in place with the 3M tape provided or screw it into the wall. Alternatively, you could simply place the unit on a table or a similar piece of furniture near the entrance to your home. The keypad is powered by two standard AA batteries, which can last for up to two years. The fact that the keypad unit runs on built-in batteries means you can put it anywhere you like, completely cable-free. You can easily instal the unit yourself using the Protect app – it’ll only take you a few minutes.

When it comes to installing your keypad, positioning is important, so make sure you take a little time to consider where would be the best place to put it. If you’re planning to use it instead of a remote control, key fob or app, it makes sense to place it next to your front door so you can easily switch your alarm on or off when you leave the house and come back home again. The same applies if you choose to keep your keypad in the cellar: place it near the entrance so you can deactivate the alarm system quickly and easily.

Tamper-proof for extra security

Another advantage offered by the Somfy Protect Indoor Keypad is that it comes with built-in protection against tampering. This means that if anyone tries to open it, fiddle around with it or remove it from its location while the alarm system is active, this will trigger the alarm and set off any sirens.

And for extra peace of mind, you can also programme the system to send a notification to your mobile phone every time the code is used. This makes it easy for you to keep track of when your children come home from school or when your cleaner arrives, for example.

Different ways to activate and deactivate your alarm

The Somfy Protect Indoor Keypad is compatible with the Somfy Home Alarm, Home Alarm Essential and One/One+, giving you the option to add extra functionality to existing or preinstalled home alarm systems.

Like previous Somfy solutions, Somfy Protect home alarms can be activated and deactivated in various ways. The easiest option is to use the remote control or key fob, which attaches to your keys. You can also set yourself a reminder to activate the alarm when you leave home, which is easy to do via the app.

If you always leave the house or come home at the same time every day, you can programme your home alarm to switch on or off at a specific time too. This is so simple and hassle-free with a smart home alarm – not just for you, but for your whole family too!
