Radio Technology Somfy® (RTS) is Somfy's own closed control platform with which you can control, operate and expand motorised interior and exterior sunblinds such as awnings, roller shutters, pergola awnings, roller blinds, roman blinds, curtain tracks from anywhere in and around your home.
A simple push of a button on a remote control or wireless wall switch transmits a radio wave signal to easily raise and lower all motorized indoor or outdoor awnings. It is not necessary to point the transmitter at the motor in the sun protection because RTS is a radio technology: the signals circulate in contrast to infrared. The range of the signals is around 20 meters and goes through walls. So it doesn't really matter where you are in or around your home: you can always operate your blinds effortlessly.

Do you want to expand the RTS installation with a sun and / or wind sensor to protect your awning? Somfy's sensors give you peace of mind. Did you leave home and did you realise that your sunscreen is still all the way down? No worries, if the weather suddenly changes, the wind or sun sensor will prove its worth and intervene immediately. The screen enters in time. You can also extend the installation with a rain sensor.
In addition to RTS, there are two other technologies, namely io-homecontrol® and WT (Wired Technology). Each of these technologies has its own ranges, operation, specific functionalities and possibilities. Somfy will continue to reduce the sales of RTS and WT products in the coming years, but these are still available in specialist shops. The latest protocol, io-homecontrol®, offers consumers more modern functionalities and applications. The protocol is easier to 'connect' to other applications in the home, such as your heating, lighting, ventilation and security. We are talking about smart home and go much further than just operating the blinds or operating your curtains.
For the interior sun protection products, the switch to io-homecontrol® has not yet been made, but there will also be changes in the near future. For now, RTS is the standard for interior blinds.
WT (Wired Technology) is actually the predecessor of RTS and io-homecontrol®. The main difference is that with WT technology there must always be full wiring between the motor (in the sun protection or roller shutter) and a fixed control point. A remote control is not possible here and the expansion options are limited. WT and RTS products are virtually no longer shown on the website.
