Installing a SGS 501 gate automation system
Preliminary checks:
Check your gates are in good condition, open horizontally and in-wards and do not require excessive force.
Ensure your gates have a suitable fixing surface to secure the motor drive arm lugs.
Your gates must have a physical end travel stops at both the open and close positions (purchase gate travels stops if necessary).
Ensure your gate posts are of substantial build to accommodate the gate motors and are wide enough to allow for fixing (see SGS 501 preparation sheet in 'Installation requirements' section for guidance).
A 230Vac supply is required to power your gate automation system. The 230Vac connection point should ideally be located close to where the SGS 501 motor control unit is situated.
The supply cable connecting the motor on the opposite side of the gate requires protecting. This cable is either submersed under the driveway or protected within cable ducting, which can be purchased if desired.
