The different types of Patio Awning
All types of patio awnings can be motorised and upgraded for automatic control with Somfy.
There are 4 main types of patio awning:

Folding arm awning: A folding arm system where the awning fabric is exposed to the elements. To keep damage from bad weather to a minimum it can be placed under an overhang of the roof. |

Semi-cassette awning: A folding arm awning with a cassette that completely covers the fabric. The fabric rolls up inside the cassette which protects it against UV rays and humidity. The arms remain outside when the awning is retracted. |

Full-cassette awning: A folding arm awning with a cassette system that provides complete protection. When closed, the awning fabric and arms fully retract back into the awning cassette. |
 |
Rail-guided awning: An awning that runs along a glass façade or a fixed structure (such as a conservatory roof) installed on the patio or at the rear of the home. |
