Up and over Garage Doors: also known as canopy or retractable are made from a single panel and swing outwards as they open, sliding away into the ceiling of the garage. This type of door is easy to install however does take up more room in the garage. |

Sectional Garage Doors: are made up of several horizontally hinged panels. The entire door rises vertically upwards and then backwards into the ceiling space. |

Side hinged Garage Door: open outwards onto the driveway and therefore need good clearance when being opened. Side hinged garage doors are a good option if there is no clearance inside your garage to allow for an up and over door. Automating this door is possible with the use of a mechanical adapter attached to a garage door operation. |

Roller Garage Doors: are made from horizontal steel or aluminum slats that roll up inside a box near your garage ceiling, taking up less space in your garage. These doors are popular due to their security and insulation benefits. |
Choose the right type of motor to Automate your Garage Door
There are two types of systems, depending on the type of door you wish to automate.

For Up and over Garage Doors, Sectional Garage Doors and Side Hinged Garage Doors, the Garage Door Opener is fixed to the ceiling and the door using brackets. The motor has in-built obstacle detection and is controlled from a remote control or a wall switch |

For Roller Garage Doors, the motor is integrated into the cylinder around which the Roller Door is wound. The motor is then operated by sending a signal from either a remote control or wall switch; to a control box which then sends the signal to the motor. Safety accessories are added to the system to detect obstacles during door travel. |
